Hybrid Cloud Adoption Rising In India

At least 30-40% of enterprises are getting into the hybrid cloud, but it’s not 50% yet in India: Anil Valluri, NetApp’s President –India & SAARC said, reported Economic Times.

“At least 30-40% of enterprises are getting into the hybrid cloud but it hasn’t touched 50% yet in India. Everybody is talking about hybrid cloud and there’s a big push from the top management as it offers many benefits including pay as you use, manageability, elasticity and more,” said Valluri.

He believes that India is riding faster on hybrid cloud as the demand for on-premise and fully private still prevail in other markets. The role of cloud providers, in his view has been significant in driving adoption of hybrid cloud in India.

Earlier, VMware, Inc., the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure company, has revealed that 91% of organisations in India consider cloud relevant to businesses, according to the Cloud Computing in Asia Pacific: The Annual Cloud Maturity Index, a VMware-commissioned study conducted in association with Forrester Consulting.

India leads the region in terms of cloud relevance alongside Japan, China, Malaysia and Thailand at 90%. The country’s understanding of cloud computing is also higher than markets like Singapore and Malaysia. Indian companies are accelerating their adoption of cloud computing, with 77% indicating that they would do so in the next six to 18 months. Eighty-seven percent of companies in the region have indicated that cloud computing is a priority for their business.
